What We Do

It all started in 2007 with France Hopper Services, then known in ai|inc.

Eileen Strong, a professional speaker based in Eatontown, NJ, approached Stephen while Stephen was still in high school with the challenge of building and maintaining several websites for her small business, Strong Incentives.

In July of the same year, our second line of business, The France Hopper Channel, launched on YouTube. It is our second-largest line of business after The France Hopper Network.

In 2011, Stephen took up blogging (again) with the launch of their personal blog, The France Hopper Network. It has since grown to be our largest and most successful line of business.

In 2013, we launched our fourth line of business, Hopper Books & Media, as an experimental platform with several fulfillment partners to specialize in the sale of traditional and pop-culture goods from Japan.

Today, we partner with Powell’s Books to support the buying and selling of books to not only Portland’s local bookstore, but the largest independent bookstore in the world. Fun fact: They’ve been selling books online longer than Amazon.

We also continue to partner with Neowing Corporation, commonly known as CD Japan, to promote the importing of traditional and pop-culture goods from Japan.

In 2015, we opened an internal line of business, France Hopper Holdings, to organize and manage a growing portfolio of digital assets.

Our newest line of business, France Hopper Transport, launched in 2019 and is a branch of France Hopper Services. France Hopper Transport specializes in providing passenger experience consulting services to the public transport sector, using the knowledge Stephen gained as a regular user and advocate of public transport, as well as their time as a member of the Portland Streetcar Citizens Advisory Committee. Stephen now serves as Chair for the committee’s successor, The Friends of Portland Streetcar.
